Tanner Hale and Matt Orlandi met at business school and quickly became close friends. Tanner grew up working in his family’s restaurant, a business built over three generations, while Matt learned early on that everything we have, and every opportunity ahead of us, traces back to the sacrifices of those who came before. Both had always wanted to buy and run a company of their own, and with complementary backgrounds in sales and M&A, they teamed up to form Wasatch Legacy Partners. They are backed by a group of seasoned investors, including TBD Investors, ETA Equity, Futaleufu Partners, WSC & Company, Peterson Partners, Archipelago Capital Partners, and current and former CEOs.
Tanner brings a strong sales and relationship-building background to the search. He spent more than five years at Lucid, a fast-growing software company, progressing from Sales Development Representative to Senior Account Executive focused on corporate expansion, where he consistently ranked among the company’s top salespeople and managed large corporate accounts. His experience also includes leading teams, onboarding new hires, and developing internal sales processes. Having worked across both SMB and enterprise sales, Tanner believes that successful businesses are ultimately built on strong relationships and trust.
Matt brings a combination of investment banking, private equity, and operational experience. Before pursuing his MBA at Wharton, he spent two years as a Senior Associate at Tower Arch Capital, following earlier investment banking roles at Evercore and Piper Sandler. Through his work with business owners and management teams, Matt has been involved in scaling businesses through strategic acquisitions, key hires, capacity expansion, and the launch of new divisions across sectors including telecommunications, power generation equipment, and aerospace. This experience has given him a practical understanding of both the financial and operational challenges involved in growing a business while preserving the strengths that made it successful.
They are looking for a U.S.-based business with a strong foundation and a legacy worth building on. They are seeking consistently profitable businesses with several years of demonstrated earnings, a proven business model, and predictable revenues. An experienced team that can remain in place through the transition is also important to them. Above all, they want to partner with owners who have built their businesses with integrity and a genuine commitment to their employees, customers, and communities.
