Last year, Marcos Noll Barboza, an experienced middle-market CEO, launched LTP Capital, a Brazilian SF supported by 17 investors, including Brazilian groups KVIV Ventures, KYR Capital, and TMB3, as well as international institutions such as Ambit Partners, Cabiedes Inversiones, Novidam, AIJ Global, Paltus Capital, and Scipio Holding. After analyzing more than 1,000 companies, Marcos began focusing on the equipment rental sector. ABC Empilhadeiras stood out for its strong technical DNA, fast maintenance response, operational efficiency, and multi-brand fleet, attributes that set it apart in a market largely populated by commercial resellers.
He has now announced the acquisition of ABC Empilhadeiras from its founder, Luis Fernando Lopes, who will remain a minority shareholder. The transaction was completed at an implied multiple of 5.2x EBITDA, with an EV estimated at US$20–25M, and includes a significant seller note. Several of the search’s leading investors backed the deal, including KVIV Ventures, KYR Capital, Cabiedes, AIJ, and Scipio, along with new investors such as 9T Capital, Albira, MB Holdings, Forti, Mazal, and Vonzeo.
With more than 30 years of experience in the sector, ABC is a leading equipment rental company and a reference in leasing, selling, and maintaining forklifts and cargo-handling equipment. The company offers customized solutions for industrial and logistics clients, operates a multi-brand fleet of more than 1,500 units, is the exclusive distributor of Paletrans, and serves more than 3,000 customers. With a presence in 18 states, the company has grown significantly in recent years, reaching approximately US$7.5M in revenue and about US$4.5M in EBITDA in 2024. Projections indicate EBITDA could reach around US$6M in 2025.
Seller Lopes commented: “After more than three decades of operating with our own resources, we understood that it was the right time to bring in an investor and partner who shared our values and long-term vision to take the company to new heights.”
The equipment-rental sector has attracted several searchers in Brazil in recent years, with notable acquisitions including Voke in 2018 (hardware rental), and both Colortel (refrigeration and electronics rental) and OxyMed (medical equipment rental) in 2023.
