Coming from families where entrepreneurship and building something of their own are deeply ingrained, Charles Gay and Monica Rekhan, both MBA classmates at Wharton, have teamed up to launch Alka Oaks Partners in Philadelphia. Their investors include Relay Investments, Cerralvo Capital, Forti SF Partners, Lineage, Reframe Capital, Istria Capital, Ventus, 9T Capital, Granite Point Partners, Search Fund Pioneers, Dellin Investments, Linta Partners, and successful operators such as Mahesh Rajasekharan, Scott Sleyster, and Neil Cuggy.
Charles has built deep expertise across private markets, from allocator diligence to GP co-investments and direct underwriting. At Cambridge Associates, HarbourVest Partners, and StepStone, he managed portfolio strategy and pacing for 40+ funds and 15 investment strategies, developing capital utilization models that improved decision-making. He led teams in valuation, LBO modeling, and credit investing on $300M+ in transactions and nearly 1,000 evaluated deals, focusing on financial services, B2B software, industrials, and IP/content businesses.
Monica Rekhan combines operational rigor with entrepreneurial instinct, positioning her to acquire and scale a services business. As Assistant Vice President at Citi, she delivered $15M+ in cost savings and led major transitions, from branch optimization to global reorganizations. Experienced in driving stability through change, Monica brings both discipline and empathy to Alka Oaks.
Alka Oaks Partners seeks to acquire a US-based, privately owned services or tech-enabled services company with recurring revenue, a strong culture, and a loyal customer base. Ideal targets have $15–50M in enterprise value and at least $3M in EBITDA, with a solid 3–5 year track record of profitability and clear growth potential. The team focuses on sectors such as compliance/regtech, financial services, and healthcare services, but remains open to other attractive opportunities.
