Partners in life and business, tech entrepreneurs Emma Margetts and Scott Winship have launched Emsco Partners, an operator-led ownership firm focused on the UK’s lower mid-market, to address the growing SME succession gap. The SF attracted strong investor interest from top-tier international players and was almost three times oversubscribed within three weeks. Backers include Orca Equity Partners, Ambit Partners, Vonzeo Capital, Miramar Equity Partners, Nashton, Endurance Search, Pina Capital, Ruiz Family Office, Will Thorndike, and Simon Webster.
“We backed Emma and Scott for many reasons, including their hands-on operating experience, clear vision for value creation, coachability, and sharp focus on execution excellence,” said Jan Simon, Managing Partner at Vonzeo Capital.
Emma and Scott have spent their working lives building businesses together. They first met at Investec Asset Management 15 years ago and have since spent the past decade building, scaling, and selling companies. As both life partners and business partners, they understand how much care, sacrifice, and personal identity go into creating and running a company. They are two-time founders with two exits and, more recently, served as co-CEOs of a medical technology business.
“Having sold two businesses ourselves, we know that selling is as much an emotional decision as a financial one. We want to make that transition as seamless as possible for sellers, employees and clients,” said Emma, Founding Partner of Emsco Partners. Scott added: “For many business owners, the prospect of selling to private equity fills them with dread. We’re focused on long-term value creation, not quick flips, with a strong emphasis on preserving legacy and culture.”
Emsco Partners is sector-agnostic and is actively pursuing its first platform acquisition, targeting UK-wide businesses with £1–10M of EBITDA, recurring or repeat revenues, a diversified customer base, and limited exposure to cyclical markets.
