Excluding North America, Spain stands out as the most dynamic market in the SF Industry, showcasing impressive statistics:
- Since 2012, 45 SFs have successfully acquired a company (2 out of 3 in the last 3 years).
- Only 4 have failed in their search (exceptionally low rate).
- 43 SFs are actively pursuing acquisitions (with 3 about to close a deal in the coming weeks).
- More than 20 SFs are presently fundraising, with 5 anticipated to close it before the end of June.
Spain also boasts the most vibrant network of investors supporting searchers, comprising approximately a dozen local institutional funds, another dozen family offices deeply involved in this asset class, and around 20 regular private investors who have participated in the cap table of at least 2 or 3 SFs.
Taking into account the number of SFs aiming to acquire a company, it’s highly probable that we’re witnessing a trend towards closing a minimum of 15 to 20 acquisitions per year between 2024 and 2026. This should consolidate Spain as the most active market if we don’t take into account USA.
