Founded in late 2022 by César González and Renaud Chevreul, Sapiens Capital received backing from both Mexican and international investors, including AIJ Global, Aurica Search Fund, Cabiedes Inversiones, CompuSoluciones, and Entrepreniston, among others. After a two-year search, Sapiens has successfully acquired Pinion Education, an edtech company previously backed by GC Capital Fund, which achieved a significant return on its investment (having initially invested $182k in the startup in 2018). The majority of Sapiens’ investors did not participate in the acquisition, as the deal was relatively small.
Founded in 2013, Pinion Education has developed an innovative learning model, transforming traditional computer education classes into comprehensive design and technology lessons. Using the Design Thinking method, they provide services to elementary, junior high, and high schools, working with over 80 schools across Mexico, Central America, and South America. The company generated approximately $1.2M in sales in 2023 and expects to close 2024 with around $1.7M in revenue.
Sapiens Capital is betting on high future growth potential in this deal, which resembles a VC transaction more than a traditional SF acquisition.
