National Search Fund (NSF) has completed a new acquisition through its investment vehicle, Search Fund Future Creation, a venture launched in early 2023 in collaboration with the Bank of Yokohama, an affiliate of Concordia Financial Group. Takumi Shimizu, the searcher from NSF, has led the buyout of Tokyo Vision, a company that imports and distributes overseas video content to Japanese TV stations while also producing and selling its own video content.
Since its founding in 1978, Tokyo Vision has been a pioneer in Japan’s video distribution industry, introducing international productions to the Japanese market and serving as a bridge for exporting Japanese content worldwide. The company’s overseas partners include Off the Fence, TVF International, Harbour Rights, Jukin Media, Java Films, Arte France, and Onza Distribution, while its domestic partners include Japan Television Network Corporation, TBS Television, Fuji TV, and Fly Media.
Takumi Shimizu, who brings strategic planning expertise from his tenure at leading advertising firm Asatsu DK and an entrepreneurial mindset honed at fintech startup Digital Platformer, will serve as the third-generation leader of Tokyo Vision. He inherits the founder Jun Takahashi’s philosophy of “always embracing new challenges” and the former CEO Takao Yoshimori’s balanced approach of strengthening existing businesses while exploring new opportunities. In a rapidly evolving video industry, marked by digital transformation and changing viewing habits, he aims to drive the company’s growth and innovation.
