Introducing Atropates Capital, founded by Phillip Weinstein, a first-generation American born to immigrant parents from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Raised in New York in a Russian-speaking, culturally diverse household, Phillip was deeply influenced by his parents’ strong work ethic and resilience as they built a successful business in America. Atropates Capital is named after an ancient ruler whose legacy is tied to Azerbaijan, the homeland of Phillip’s maternal family. This name embodies the firm’s core values of resilience and enduring leadership, which are central to its mission to acquire and operate one exceptional business in the USA.
To achieve this goal, Phillip has secured the support of a distinguished group of investors, including WSC & Company, Relay Investments, Endurance Search Partners, Paltus Capital, Fargo Investments, Archipelago Capital Partners, Blue Frame Capital Partners, Riviera Capital, ETA Equity, The Cambria Group, Red Forest Capital, Dellin Investments; and mentors such as Sarah Hasan, Gideon Wilk, Eric Giesecke, Jeff Oldenburg, Tyler Coats, Bill Kloza, Garrett Levey, among others.
Phillip discovered his entrepreneurial drive while co-managing and expanding Wake Wash, a laundry and dry-cleaning service that he successfully sold upon graduation. His subsequent professional experience is diverse, encompassing roles in investment banking, consulting, and growth equity, as well as various positions at Vanderbilt University, where he first encountered the SF model, Turn/River Capital, and Ankura. These experiences have equipped him with expertise in financial valuation, strategic planning, and performance optimization.
