With over 30 years of industry-leading experience in energy and utility pipeline products and services, and a track record of scaling businesses, Bill Rees joined the NCA SF program in August 2024. In less than one year, with a search focused on energy and utility companies, Bill led the acquisition of Cronus Technology, Inc. (CTI), a Houston, Texas-based pipeline design company specializing in highly technical engineering services for extreme applications. Former owner Eric Romero will move to a board seat. This marks the 23rd deal in NCA’s global portfolio.
Founded in 2004, CTI is a leading engineering services provider for onshore and offshore pipeline and subsea projects in the energy sector. The company offers end-to-end solutions, from conceptual design to commissioning, including engineering, project and construction management, and inspection services. Known for its focus on safety, environmental compliance, and quality, CTI consistently delivers projects on time and beyond client expectations worldwide.
“I was drawn to CTI immediately because they are hungry, humble, and smart,” said Bill. “They’re hungry because they operate a relentless consulting model and have a very focused mindset on the commercial side of that. They’re humble because, as true engineering consultants, they see a successful project as one where their customers look great, and they work behind the scenes to make that happen without ego. And they’re smart because they have very deep engineering knowledge for extremely specialized pipeline scenarios involving either a sensitive product or a sensitive environment, or both.”
Bill plans to drive cross-team alignment on growth strategy, expand integrity management solutions to build recurring revenue, and extend the company’s international footprint to serve pipeline operators globally.
