Kenneth Cheng, founder and managing partner of Mission Kay Capital, has successfully launched one of the first traditional SFs in Singapore, focused on acquiring and scaling one SME in either Singapore or Malaysia. Backed by a diverse and experienced group of investors, Mission Kay Capital aims to tackle the growing challenges of succession planning in the region’s vibrant SMB market, which accounts for 99% of businesses in Singapore and 97.4% in Malaysia.
Kenneth combines entrepreneurial spirit with corporate leadership expertise. Growing up around entrepreneurs, he launched an e-commerce venture while still at university and successfully exiting after four years. He has since held senior leadership roles at Accenture, BHP, and UL Solutions, where he led global teams and spearheaded corporate strategy and operational excellence. With deep personal and professional ties to Singapore and Malaysia, Kenneth’s understanding of the local business culture gives him a strategic advantage in sourcing, executing acquisitions, and driving growth.
Mission Kay Capital is supported by what Kenneth calls the best team he has ever assembled, a group of 15 local and international investors, including Moonbase Capital, Search Fund Club, Secways, Inversiones Cabiedes, Novidam, Tycen Bundgaard, and Scott Lee. This robust investor base brings a wealth of expertise across industries and geographies, providing strategic guidance and financial backing. The diversity of the cap table reflects a balance of insight and support that enhances the fund’s ability to identify and scale exceptional businesses.
While Mission Kay Capital is industry-agnostic, it focuses on areas aligned with Kenneth’s experience and expertise. These include engineering services, where Kenneth has extensive leadership experience as Head of International Strategy and Commercial Director for Southeast Asia. The fund is particularly drawn to companies delivering technical engineering services across industries such as industrial, consumer electronics, automotive, and renewables, where customers prioritize technical expertise and consistent service delivery—key strengths Kenneth brings to the table.
The commercial services sector is another focus due to its straightforward business models. This includes companies in security services, corporate safety services, fire safety, and health and hygiene services. Kenneth’s previous experience in the safety industry aligns with the growing demand for dependable services in these fragmented and expanding markets.
With a strong foundation and a committed team of investors, Mission Kay Capital is set to make meaningful impact whilst preserving legacies and creating long-term value.
