At the end of 2023, Yoshihisa Haruyama partnered with M&A Base, an innovative accelerator in Japan with a fund of nearly €25M, to search for a company to acquire and manage. Within less than a year, through the M&A Base Search Fund 1, he successfully acquired TGK Corporation, a company operating multiple omelet rice specialty stores. Founder Hayato Ando will continue supporting the company’s growth.
Founded in 2011, TGK has developed the fluffy omelet rice specialty brand “Kanda Tamagoken” and the meat omelet rice brand “Niku to Tamago.” It operates 7 directly managed stores and 4 franchise locations, primarily in Tokyo and Fukuoka Prefecture. Employing nearly 100 staff, including part-time workers, the company enjoys high brand recognition and solid reputation.
At 42, Yoshihisa Haruyama brings a wealth of experience from roles at Dentsu, Google, Hulu Japan, and Skyscanner. As COO of BAKE, he oversaw its sale to Polaris Capital in 2017. In 2018, he founded Atta, exiting in 2023 to pursue search fund activities. He remarked, “We aim to continue delivering delicious flavors to our customers, accelerate new store openings, and drive business growth through marketing and digital transformation (DX).”
