Building on the success of other self-funded SFs in Singapore, including Silver Straits Capital and Potter Capital, which acquired Rental Hygiene Services and The Health Collective respectively in 2019, Garlic Equity Capital has successfully attracted SF investors to fund its search.
Inspired by his family’s entrepreneurial legacy, its founder, Aik Chuan, is a seasoned P&L leader renowned for propelling business growth and profitability in Singapore and Southeast Asia. With expertise in strategic planning, marketing optimization, and organizational design, he has effectively overseen regional and country operations with over 250 employees at Uber and LingoAce (a Sequoia-backed Edutech). He was also a McKinsey consultant and an INSEAD alumnus.
Aik Chuan has attracted 19 investors to back his venture, including successful searchers such as Scott Lee (Silver Straits Capital), Alexander Schuil (Novidam), and Tobias Raeber (ETApreneur); institutional funds such as Ambit Partners; family offices such as Secways; and local entrepreneurs such as Tycen Bundgaard and Kenny Choong.
Garlic Equity will target growing companies with an enterprise value between S$7-30M, with recurrent revenues and positive cash flow.
