After an internship with NYC-based Search Fund Novidam in 2015, Alexander Wijs spent the better part of the past decade dreaming of launching his own SF. That dream has now come true, as he just launched Orangeland Capital. Orangeland is based in Amsterdam from which it will conduct an opportunistic search for a private company in the Netherlands and Belgium. In this venture, he is supported by his mentor Alexander Schuil from Novidam and has also attracted leading SF investors such as Ambit Partners, Legate Partners, TTCER Partners, The Cromwell Harbor Partnership (Will Thorndike), and ONEtoONE Great Searchers, along with several successful Dutch entrepreneurs and Private Equity investors.
Alexander worked for many years as Private Equity investor with Freshstream Investment Partners, a Dutch-British investment firm focused on family-owned and founder-led companies. Prior to that, he began his career as Investment Banker with Morgan Stanley in London and New York. He is also Board Member of Amsterdam on Stage, a company that creates immersive theatrical experiences in the city of Amsterdam.
Orangeland Capital will be sector-agnostic in its search for an SME headquartered in the Netherlands or Belgium. It will have a particular focus on business models with high degrees of revenue recurrence as well as industries that benefit from attractive macro trends, low cyclicality and remain fragmented. The ideal target will have a track record of organic growth, solid and sustainable operating margins, and EBITDA between €1.5M and €4.5M. Orangeland will have a multi-facetted approach to deal sourcing, ranging from industry-focused, proprietary outreaches to brokered deals, also making use of Alexander’s existing network of intermediaries in the region.
Zuidbroek and Taxand served as the legal and tax advisors to Orangeland.
