Several years ago, one branch of the Garrigós family launched Aniol, a family office aimed at investing in private companies and real estate to diversify from their original company, Fluidra. Bernat Garrigós leads the company, with Jaume Argerich serving as the Director of Investment. Given their background and industrial history, they adopt an operational approach rather than solely focusing on financial aspects. They engage in a wide range of operations, including private equity, club deals, and MBI.
In 2020, Aniol initiated investments in the SF model, recognizing its potential for gaining deeper insight into future managers before acquiring a company. To date, they have completed their first deal with the acquisition of Termoformado Termopack in 2022 and have participated in various SFs such as Izisoft Capital and Terra Firma Capital in Spain, as well as Exicap in France. Geographically, their interests span Spain, France, the UK, Italy, and Portugal. While they remain sector agnostic, they prioritize understanding the value proposition and growth potential behind the figures.
Jaume elaborated, stating, “The searcher is more important than the company. We favor professionals with operational experience who have successfully managed teams. A down-to-earth and pragmatic approach to business matters is essential to minimize risk. We are deeply involved, typically aiming for 10% stakes post-dilution and requesting a board seat.”
