Indian-born Sanjay Pitchai has founded Catamaran Equity Partners to support an American business owner in transitioning into retirement, with the confidence that his life’s work will remain in capable hands and continue to thrive. To back this mission, he has assembled a strong team of former CEOs and seasoned investors, including Miramar Equity Partners, Relay Investments, Shore Capital Partners, TTCER, Ventura Search Capital, WSC & Company, Robin Mohapatra, Michael Aubrey, Jeff Neblett, Scott Lauber, Badge Stone, Felipe Corcuera, Antonio Elosua, and Germán Canale.
Sanjay moved to the U.S. at 18 to build his own future, beginning as a PE intern at Arrowroot Capital before joining Perella Weinberg Partners, where he advised marquee technology clients on complex financings and M&A, sharpening his analytical rigor and deal sense. He then joined high-growth software company Toast, contributing to its $1 billion IPO and first international expansion, an experience that deepened his appreciation for disciplined execution at scale. During his MBA at MIT, he interned at Relay Investments and later took on hands-on operating roles, serving as Chief of Staff at ISPN Network Services, where he helped define the company’s AI roadmap and long-term vision, and partnering with a regional bakery chain to standardize customer metrics and empower frontline teams. These experiences reinforced his conviction that sharp processes, empowered people, and data-driven insights transform good companies into enduring great ones.
He is now seeking an American company operating in a large, fragmented, and growing market with low cyclicality. The ideal business has recurring revenues, strong margins, and EBITDA between $2M–$8M, supported by a loyal and diverse customer base and clear opportunities for growth. His industry focus includes B2B services, vertical software, energy and water infrastructure, and industrial services.
